FAQ
What makes Wilson Homecare different than other homecare agencies?
Answer: Wilson Homecare has developed a reputation in the community for providing optimum home care services. We have achieved this by working with professionals who are representative of the Wilson vision of consistent, outstanding service to every client.
Are your employees screened?
Answer: All of our caregivers are pre-screened through a comprehensive testing process. They are required to allow criminal and driving background checks in addition to the State screening process with Adult Protective Services and Child Protective Services.
Do you only take care of seniors?
Answer: No, we provide services for a variety of individuals of all ages with many different personal care needs.
Do you provide services in facilities?
Answer: Yes, we send caregivers to hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. We provide the same personal care services just as we would in your own home.
Do you charge extra for night or weekend care?
Answer: No, our fees are set at one constant rate depending on the level of care being provided. Our pricing structure is designed to be simple and straight-forward.
Is there a charge for an initial consultation?
Answer: Our initial consultation is offered free of charge. We schedule an appointment with a Nurse Care Consultant who meets with the client to discuss their specific situation and how we can best meet each need. We encourage family members or representatives to attend this meeting as well.
Is there a "Contract for Services" and if so, what is the cancellation policy?
Answer: Yes, there is a service contract that stipulates the rate, level of care, patient rights, and overall permission to provide home care service to the individual. You may cancel the services being provided. There is no specification or obligation as to the duration of the contract.
What is the minimum number of hours required per shift?
Answer: Most of our cases require a 4-hour minimum shift, however we do offer a 2-hour minimum for Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and Registered Nurse (RN) cases.
Do you provide twenty-four hour care?
Answer: Yes, we provide twenty-four hour service. We usually break the shifts into 8 to 12 hour segments for each caregiver to assure we have a fresh, alert staff member on duty at all times.
How often are patient care needs reassessed?
Answer: Each client is assigned their own Nurse Care Consultant who thoroughly evaluates the care being performed to ensure that services are consistent with the client's personal care needs. Regular home visits and telephonic consultations are part of the on-going assessment process.
Is there supervision of the caregivers by administrative staff?
Answer: Yes, all of our staff are supervised by an administrative team which consists of professionals from finance, nursing, staffing, and human resources in addition to a training department that provides on-going testing and training for all of our caregivers.
How are calls handled after business hours and on weekends?
Answer: Wilson Homecare has professionals from the Staffing and Nursing departments manning our after-hours phones 24/7. Each client is provided after-hour phone numbers in the event a situation arises that needs to be addressed prior to the beginning of the next work day.
Why should I go through an agency as opposed to privately hiring someone?
Answer: When someone privately hires an individual they become the employer. With that comes liability risks, staffing responsibilities, and quality management concerns. An agency like ours insures and bonds all of our employees, assigns staffing managers to coordinate consistent staffing measures and monitors quality of care through on-going Nurse assessments. With an agency the client can rest assured their loved one is being well cared for and safe during their absence.
How do I start services?
Answer: Call our office at 808-596-4486. We will schedule a free initial homecare consultation. Prior to or during the consultation, a schedule will be established. The Nursing and Staffing Departments will seek out the most appropriate caregiver matching the skill level, location, and personality type with the client.
